Based on ancient 'olla'-style irrigation, a clay pot is buried in soil inside this stock tank planter. The canale or waterspout above empties into the clay pot, which is covered with a perforated lid, held down by stones. Water seeps through the lid into the buried clay pot and then from the pot out into the soil as needed.
Precipitation-only plants were used in this project, but more water could be added for a kitchen garden. |
